i have got an iMac 08 and it is possibly the best thing i have ever bought. i love it! so far it has outlived all my other PCs, it doesn't take up much space, runs like a charm and has only crashed about twice in its life. To celebrate my love i am going to buy it some more RAM ( even though it doesnt need it and is pretty fast already with 1Gb :P) I am also saving up for a 2011 Macbook Pro for college to help with my media work. All i can say is... WHY DID I NOT HAVE ONE EARLIER!?? all those times sat up till 3 am trying to fix some tedious little issue with Windows could have been avoided. I WILL NEVER GO BACK TO MICROSOFT FOR ANYTHING!!!

I like most here seem to be a recent convert to Mac, ulike most of them I have used Linux with a dock most recent Cairo Dock for a good part of my computing life, so the changeover is relatively easy. What I do like is the construction..If I could get the Mac build quality with Linux Mint I would be in heaven, but there is a terminal for all you linux users and the terminal is just as functional "sudo" works

Had the new macbook (same as rlycou) a few months now and is nothing short of amazing.
I'm not sad or anything, but despite taking a little of the memory up, that can considerably affect the start up time of a windows computer it recently beat it's best starting up time to 22 seconds :) I am sad but I am very happy with the speed of my mac.
Also use iwork and despite the learning curve for a pretty good operation of it, I've nailed it weeks back and can produce some excellent work :)
Everything just works, and I don't have to worry about drivers or RAM upgrades.
An amazing machine, inside and out.

Good points. Got my first Mac 3 days ago, it's the new white Macbook. It's blazing fast, and it just works! I just love my Mac, it just works the way I want it to. iWork seems to be better than Microsoft Office, as Microsoft Office has been giving me errors upon installing. This Macbook is cute, and works 100x better than my old PCs. Those days, I always had to download programs to make sure my computer stays fast. Now that I have a Mac, those are not needed anymore. Mac is very good for working and entertainment. Windows is very slow, especially when start up and shut down. All in all, I'm just very happy with my Mac.

Hey man, great list. I love how thin and light it is too. As far as the crashing thing: consider yourself lucky. In my first week of usage I've had more apps lock up and stutter than in 2 years of using Vista ( mother of all ironies? ). It also seems to require a restart a lot more ( maybe it's the apps I'm using, who knows ).

So do you have the generation prior to the unibody Macbook? I just got a unibody and am trying to figure out how to fix the mouse interpretation. At first I thought it was just the trackpad, because trackpads are kind of infamous for being difficult-to-use compared to mice. So I bought a $70 mighty mouse, but it's even less accurate. I've played with the tracking speed in system preferences, installed and experimented with various mouse-correcting apps ( MouseZoom, USBOverdrive, SteerMouse ), but none of them seem to get the mouse interpretation nearly as accurate or precise and natural as Windows or Ubuntu. What do you use?
