Here at TweakOSX we devote a lot of time to giving you inside information on Apple and Mac products and how those tips and tricks can make you a better and more effective Apple user. But today, I want to step back for a moment and just admire the very computer that I am writing this post from, my beloved MacBook. While I”m not on the cutting edge of technology, my MacBook has served me faithfully over the last two years and I simply want to pay homage to this great invention that has revolutionized my life. So here are my ten reasons why I love my Mac!

1. Its easy to use: After a few months I felt as if I had mastered the use of my MacBook and its programs. Tutorials were simple and clear and every program has a help section where they accurately answered my questions.

2. Its mobile: My MacBook is light and easy to carry places. I’ve taken it to work, to school, on vacation and even to China and Mexico!

3. Its got a great mouse: A responsive and not too sensitive mouse has saved me hours of frustrating and allows me to quickly navigate and use different programs.

4. Its media capabilities: We purchased our MacBook just before we left to teach English in China, an experience we wanted to be able to accurately chronicle with photos and video. iLife has given us the opportunity to capture and organize all of our adventures and put them in amazing presentation formats for family and friends.

5. Its reliable: My MacBook has never crashed in two years and I have never had any virus problems.

6. Free updates to software: Apple sends me updates to improve software and programs and to have the most recent updated versions to many programs for free. Furthermore, Macupdate has many free widgets and tools to download.

7. Its syncretistic programs and is adaptable for media: Programs and software work and communicate together on my MacBook and cameras and other devices are easily located and programs easy to download, making for fast transmission of media while still maintaining its great processing speed.

  1. I couldn’t agree more. I got my first mac (a white 2.4 macbook) last summer for school and it has been the best computer I have owned by far. When I was in high school I used to build windows gaming machines, but as I found more important things to do (like college and girls) I gradually lost the time to fuss and tweak a machine to make it work quickly and correctly. My macbook has been blazing fast since the day I bought it and I haven’t had any problems. Every now and then I find myself thinking its time to reinstall the os, then I remember that its working perfectly and those days are behind me.

  2. Hey man, great list. I love how thin and light it is too. As far as the crashing thing: consider yourself lucky. In my first week of usage I’ve had more apps lock up and stutter than in 2 years of using Vista ( mother of all ironies? ). It also seems to require a restart a lot more ( maybe it’s the apps I’m using, who knows ).

So do you have the generation prior to the unibody Macbook? I just got a unibody and am trying to figure out how to fix the mouse interpretation. At first I thought it was just the trackpad, because trackpads are kind of infamous for being difficult-to-use compared to mice. So I bought a $70 mighty mouse, but it’s even less accurate. I’ve played with the tracking speed in system preferences, installed and experimented with various mouse-correcting apps ( MouseZoom, USBOverdrive, SteerMouse ), but none of them seem to get the mouse interpretation nearly as accurate or precise and natural as Windows or Ubuntu. What do you use?

  4. Good points. Got my first Mac 3 days ago, it’s the new white Macbook. It’s blazing fast, and it just works! I just love my Mac, it just works the way I want it to. iWork seems to be better than Microsoft Office, as Microsoft Office has been giving me errors upon installing. This Macbook is cute, and works 100x better than my old PCs. Those days, I always had to download programs to make sure my computer stays fast. Now that I have a Mac, those are not needed anymore. Mac is very good for working and entertainment. Windows is very slow, especially when start up and shut down. All in all, I’m just very happy with my Mac.
