NeoOffice Downloads Legit?

NeoOffice is a full-featured set of office applications (including word processing, spreadsheet, presentation, drawing, and database programs) for Mac OS X. It offers suite applications for office work for free, relying on donations and contributions from users. It has been around since 2003 and works with the Mac operating systems to provide an alternative to other office software like Microsoft office or iWorks.

While I like using iWorks on my Macbook, I know of others who want the Macbook but can’t spring for the extra money it costs to get the software. Is this a way out?

Macupdate tells us that, “Released as free, open-source software under the GNU General Public License (GPL), NeoOffice is fully functional and stable enough for everyday use. The software is actively developed, so improvements and small updates are made available on a regular basis.”

Here at TweakOSX we are curious what you think of NeoOffice. Is it a legit software tool that is reliable and easy to use? Is it worth replacing Microsoft Works or iWorks or is, while obviously a cheaper option, worth the risk? Let us know what you think.

NeoOffice is available for download here.
